Coachella 2023 - First punjabi artist to perform - Diljit Dosanjh

Coachella is one of the most iconic music festivals in the world. Every year, thousands of music lovers flock to the Coachella Valley in California to witness some of the biggest names in the music industry perform live. This year, Coachella had a South Asian flavor to it. Five South Asian artists lit up the stage with their talent, style, and music. Day 2 belonged to Diljit Dosanjh, the Punjabi king, who became the first Punjabi artist to perform at Coachella. Diljit captured the hearts of the audience by performing hit after hit, and even had DJ Diplo grooving to his music (see video below).

Jai Paul performs for his first live concert

Jai Paul is a prodigy with a unique sound. If we are talking about Jai Paul now, we have to revisit his past too. A short recap if you don’t know who he is. In the 2010s, Jai released his song BTSTU which became a sensation and was sampled by Drake and Beyonce and was called by BBC as “a startlingly fresh vision of 21st century pop music” due to his unique sounds. But later in 2013, before he released his first album, all the tracks were leaked on bandcamp and then we saw very little of Jai Paul for over a decade until now. This Coachella performance will be his first ever live concert in his music career. He closed out his set with his iconic songs Jasmine, BTSTU, and Str8 Outta Mumbai.

Joy Crookes, Jai Wolf, and Ali Sethi

The final day of Coachella’s South Asian treat had Joy Crookes, Jai Wolf, and Ali Sethi taking the stage. We will cover more of this later this week.
